The Secrets of Empowerment

I am a survivor of rape and childhood abuse, of discrimination and poverty…I could go on. And the worst part is that my story is not unique. There are so many people who are born into a dysfunctional and diseased system like ours that feeds and protects monsters and dysfunctional people. In feeding them, it takes external power from those good or innocent people that don’t know how to or even know that they can protect their power. I have lived this myself. At my lowest point, I was completely broken. Shattered mind, heart, body and soul. But in that total destruction of my Self, I found something. Something that cannot be taken by external sources. This isn’t about any religion or catchy mantra. This isn’t a magic bullet for all of your problems or a way to make the world do what you want. I am talking about that part of us that is the source of our internal power. And when that is fully embraced and the physical outlet of that internal power is healed, there is nothing that you can’t eventually do. I went from too sick to function, unable to hold a job, dysfunctional relationships, deep unhappiness, emptiness that no food or drug could heal, and just floundering from one bad situation to another with no hope in sight to healing my body, healing my mind even though they said it wasn’t possible, having a career, healing my emptiness, and starting to have actually healthy relationships. I am not done (if there is such a thing as “done” that isn’t death.) But I am learning the secrets that are hidden in us all. And in this time of misinformation, people in power that haven’t earned it, injustice every where you look, an unsustainable modern living that is killing us all, wars driven by fear and greed, and good people so dis-empowered that they are filled with emptiness; we have to evolve to survive. To me that means starting with personal empowerment and then building your external power through its various expressions so that we can all work together to create a new long-term sustainable life style that feeds the good people that choose to balance their own self interests with what will benefit society as a whole. I cannot tell you how many times I have tried a magic bullet. And they don’t work. They don’t work, because life is too complicated for one simple small thing to facilitate lasting change. Our problems both inside and out are too complicated. There is no one person that will fix everything. There is no one deity to solve all of our problems, there is no one thought that will hack into the world and make it all work out. It is going to take a lot of hard work and some luck. I know this isn’t a popular view point…I don’t like it either. But at the end of the day, it is Truth. But no matter how bad it is; if you are empowered, there is always hope and there is always a way.
